Hey Imtiaz, WhatsApp charges us for user generated messages as well. It is ~0.014 USD for user initiated and ~0.04 for business initiated message (Pakistan pricing).
We are not sure how OTPless is doing it for free but our assumption is that they are burning on each message to capture the market. They will up sell other services built on top this.
As of now the messages are being received by us not the brand. We have a premium feature in place that integrates our product with the brands Whatsapp business account allowing them to communicate directly.
As far as user verification is concerned, we match users with the apps they chose to signup on through our data base. If both the app and user match then we send them the associated magic link.
There's no cost if the message is user initiated, correct?
