Public Release #01 - Free Android Wrapper

A DIY wrapper for technical founders to convert web apps into mobile apps in minutes.

Background

As a venture studio, we have built dozens of apps using bubble.io in the last few years.

We have had to rely on wrappers available in the market to convert our web apps into native Android and iOS apps. These external solutions are great for one-time use but we faced two main problems with them:

• It is not possible to build in additional features yourself since we don’t have access to the code base

• Customer support is slow given most wrappers are made by solopreneurs.

Product

We built our own wrapper on top of Jasonelle. It gave us the flexibility to add more features, fast, as per our requirements.

Some of the native features added to it include:

• Open Whatsapp Chat

• Fetch GPS Location

• Share Text and Image

• Get Contacts

• OneSignal SDK for push notifications and In-app notifications

• Device Orientation

• Open web links in-app

• Change the notification bar color

• Select pictures from the gallery

• Audio Recorder

• File Uploader

• Alerts and Banner

• Take a picture from Camera

• Scan QR/Barcode

We are sharing our code on GitHub to make it easy for (technical) founders to get to market fast with a DIY web-to-mobile app convertor.

It is now available on GitHub so any founder can now use it and even contribute to make it the best wrapper out there!
